Radio Shack joins the netbook party with Lenovo IdeaPad S10 for $300
Even Radio Shack is going on the attack with netbooks, as they are offering the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 for $300 on their website and in-stores.
This nicely designed netbook has a 10-inch widescreen display (1024x576), 1gb of memory (expandable to 2gb), 160gb hard disk, webcam, wifi, 3-cell battery, and Windows XP Home. It weighs around 2.65 pounds, which is very portable.
At the same time, Radio Shack has a promotion that gets you the Computer Associates Internet Security Suite for free, delivered on a 2gb USB drive. So if nothing else, you score a 2gb USB drive :) This is mentioned on the product page mentioned above, but it's only text, so be sure to pay close attention. If you can't spot it quickly, just use your browser's search functionality to look for this words: "FREE CA® Internet Security Suite 2009 2GB Flash Drive with purchase of any netbook"
But that's not all from Radio Shack! If you were planning on getting the AT&T mobile broadband plan, which requires a two-year agreement and a plan of $60 or more per month, then you can subsidize yourself for the Acer Aspire One (AOA150-1987) netbook. The "self-subsidized" price is $50, assuming you follow all the terms and conditions as set forth by AT&T. Needless to say, this is only if you were already considering to sign up for the AT&T mobile broadband plans, otherwise, at $60 per month, it's like buying a new netbook every five months.
