Netbooks for everyone? ASUS EPC900HDB for $250 at Best Buy

Are we in the netbooks for everyone stage? Because the Best Buy prices seem to encourage this type of thing. In this week's circular ad, yes, the Memorial Day weekened edition, Best Buy is promoting the ASUS EPC900HDB for $250. Yes, just two hundred and fifty, and in traditional Best Buy tradition, no rebates! What you pay, is what you pay indeed!

So while this is not intended to be your web-server or portable workstation, the specs are not bad at all. You get 1gb of memory, which up until recently it was common in a lot of regular-size laptops, 160gb hard disk, 8.9" widescreen display, webcam, wifi, etc, and Windows XP Home which is preferred over the bloated Vista. Infact Vista has managed to make some of older Windows operating systems sound reasonable. Perhaps that was the secret goal of Vista after all.

But let's not diverge too much from the path! This model is the EPC900HDB-RED001X, and there is a limit of one per household. As usual, the good deals fly off the shelves fast, so your mileage will likely vary from store to store and city to city.

But wait, there's more! If you are the accessorizer type, for an extra $30 you can get the Targus netbook bag which includes a modest mouse, along with a 2gb SD memory card. If you have use for all three, then it's a reasonable bundle price. If not, then, obviously, you are better off buying what you need piece-meal.
