Samsung X460-44p for $1300 after big $300 mail-in rebate
Samsung wants to make it big in the USA market, and after a wave of netbook launches, which may be starting to pick up momentum, they launched a wave of traditional laptops. How will the laptops do though? Well, only time will tell :-)
For now, we present to you a special at Buy.com, the Samsung X460-44p for $1300 after a rather big $300 mail-in rebate. That's right! Three-hundred dollar rebate. It is not a typo! Free shipping is included, but you can upgrade to 2nd Day express for just $5.50 which may not be a bad idea for a four-figure laptop :-) You don't want the delivery guy to spend any more time than necessary with your new ...precious ;-)
The rebate promotion is good until the end of February 2009 at participating retailers and it is processed in El Paso, Texas. The terms and conditions say that the check will be mailed 10 to 12 weeks after submission. Since this is a big amount, be sure to follow all the rules and keep copies of everything!
The good news for the power-buyers is that you can get up to 30 (thirty) rebates per participating Samsung model. Obviously this is more for small businesses, as we doubt the average household needs thirty new laptops :-) Now wants is a different story :-)
Please note however, that while the rebate says up to 30, the Buy.com website only allows two per customer at the special price. If you need more than two, be sure to ask the Buy.com customer service.
Samsung X460-44p main specs
Okay, we've talked so far about almost everything except the laptop itself! The processor is the Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 running at 2.26GHz, and it has 3GB DDR3 memory (note the DDR3). The display is a 14.1" Widescreen WXGA (1280x800, LED backlit), with 320gb disk, dvd burner, wireless, and things like that. The OS is Vista Bidness, which most people call "Vista Business". The exact manufacturer part number is NP-X460-AS02US.
The specs above may not look that impressive for the price point until you consider its weight: just four pounds using the standard battery. Now let's re-read the specs and compare to the MacBook Air - well almost :-)
Other notable specs of interest are:
+ NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS with 256mb DDR3
+ bluetooth, expresscard/34, fingerprint reader with TPM, hdmi out
+ optional high-capacity 6-cell battery delivers up to six hours of battery life
